years ago, in the 50's, when shellsuit first started, the idea was to get ten people
not known to us to be inspired by our music. the idea of 'the ten' took on a life
of it's own, so much so that one sharp individual was spotted on county road, walton, with a homemade 'i'm one of the ten - shellsuit' t shirt.
once we'd cracked the ten we knew what we had to do, go for the bakers dozen,
whilst retaining the principles that drove us out of our front doors and into each
others houses to create the songs that are to populate our debut long player
'WALTON PRISON BLUES'.
the music was always dreamed of to be a mixture of 'james carr' soul and
'george orwell articulacy. it always comes out different of course but we like to
aim high, we wanted to be the first group in years who didn't disappoint,
something to put in your ears before or after a shift in the alien world of the
distribution warehouse.
we love our pop music as much as the next teenage girl, yet the nagging thought
remained, why can't you combine 'das capital' with jive bunny ? have a song you could listen to as much as do the conga to.
anticipating the backlash we invited every stereotype in our direction with the name 'shellsuit'
as for the content ? when we move to new york or the south of france,
we'll talk about 'soda pop on 34th street' or 'chateau de pap in monaco,
but while we continue to wallow in the streets and houses of northern england,
we'll sing about this, our home environment,
the laughable idea that we've come to acknowledge as a fact is that
'we could be artists' without any prior history of such grand schemes.
we recruited like minded hard faced visionaries ,
g with the visuals, budgie the actor, farquar the poet, and our manager keo
with the belief to carry us all through.
here is it so far, with loads of songs in the tank still to come to fruition.
